Welcome!

Dear Parents,

It is a genuine pleasure to join Royal Bridge High School as your new principal. I feel privileged to work alongside such a professional and dedicated team. It’s clear to me that our staff care deeply about the students. Your children are in very good hands.

I had the opportunity to meet many students for the first time today, and I was immediately impressed by their friendliness and courtesy. During lunch, I enjoyed chatting with several of them and learning more about their experiences. Our students come from many parts of China and are fortunate to have the chance to expand their friendships—not only with one another but also within the wider Canadian community.

Like their teachers, I will continue to encourage our students to approach their studies with diligence and enthusiasm, so that they can achieve success both in school and beyond. Just as importantly, I am committed to supporting their social and emotional well-being, helping them build confidence, independence, and a sense of personal responsibility.

By way of introduction, I bring over 40 years of experience as a teacher and principal, primarily within the North Vancouver School District. I have also spent a decade living and working in China, serving as a high school principal in Haikou, Chengdu, and Zibo, as well as leading professional development programs for teachers and principals, most often in Beijing. Over the years, China has truly become a second home for me.

As students get to know me, I hope they will see me not only as their principal but also as a friendly and approachable adult they can turn to—whether about their studies or any concerns that may arise. I am here to listen, support, and help them thrive.

Parents are always welcome to contact me to share their thoughts, ideas, or concerns. I can be reached anytime at gsquire@royalbridge.ca.

Respectfully,

Gary Squire

Principal
